English and Spanish in one check
Most spell checkers know one language at a time, so text that mixes English and Spanish comes back full of false errors. This checker uses two dictionaries at once: American English, and Spanish with the words of US Spanish such as troca, parquear, aseguranza and lonche. A word is flagged only when it is wrong in both languages, and the suggestions come from both.
An example
In "Voy a parquear la troca y después vamos al mall to grab lunch." a Spanish spell checker flags six words and an English one flags five. This checker flags none. Typos are still caught in either language: in "Te veo en el parque after scool, no te olbides de traer el lonche." it flags scool and olbides and suggests school and olvides.
What it knows
- American English: the same dictionary as the English (US) checker
- Spanish: the same dictionary as the Spanish checker, for Spain, Latin America and the US, updated in October 2026 with words such as textear, wifi, frijol and chévere
- US Spanish: 85 words used in the United States, with their plurals and verb forms, such as troca, parquear, aseguranza, lonche, janguear and printear
- Everyday slang and swear words in both languages are not flagged, and never suggested

Spanglish spell checker FAQ
Is this Spanglish spell checker free?
Yes. It is free, with no account or login. Paste your text, in English, Spanish or both, and click Check Words.
How does it check two languages at once?
Each word is looked up in English and in Spanish. A word either dictionary knows is correct; a word neither knows is flagged, with suggestions from both languages, closest first.
Does it use AI?
No. JSpell checks each word against dictionaries and suggests dictionary spellings. It never rewrites or translates your text.
Which US Spanish words does it know?
Words such as troca (truck), parquear (to park), aseguranza (insurance), lonche (lunch), janguear (to hang out) and printear (to print), with their plurals and verb forms, such as trocas and parqueamos.
Does it check Spanish accents?
Yes. A Spanish word written without its accent is flagged, with the accented word as the first suggestion: tambien becomes también and despues becomes después. A word that is also correct in English without the accent, such as cafe, is not flagged.
Can a typo slip through?
Sometimes. A misspelling that happens to be a correct word in the other language is not flagged. For text in only one language, the English or Spanish checker is stricter.
Which Spanish does it use?
Standard Spanish, shared by Spain, Latin America and the US, with regional words that are standard where they are used, such as frijol, palta and guagua, plus the words of US Spanish.
Can I add Spanglish checking to my own app?
Yes. The JSpell spell check API takes enesUS as its language for English and Spanish together.
